Humans are the only primates that cannot produce their own vitamin C.
Why it is true
Most mammals synthesise vitamin C in the liver from glucose. Humans, along with fruit bats and guinea pigs, lost this ability due to a mutation in a gene called GULO. That is why we need to get vitamin C from food, or we suffer from scurvy.
