What ONAURE is
ONAURE is an independent knowledge library built around a simple idea: a fact is only worth sharing if you also understand why it is true. Anyone can repeat that octopuses have three hearts. We would rather you leave knowing that two of those hearts serve the gills and the third serves the rest of the body — and that the third one stops beating when the animal swims.
The library currently holds 2058 facts, each one written, checked and published by hand across 9 subjects, in English, Portuguese, Spanish and French.
What you will find here
The site is split in two, because reading a fact and being tested on one are not the same thing and do not belong on the same page.
The reading side. The fact is written out, with the explanation behind it and the source it comes from. Nothing is hidden and nothing is asked of you.
- A fact page for every entry, with the claim, the explanation behind it, the field it comes from, and related facts to keep reading.
- Category libraries so you can go deep on one subject instead of scrolling at random.
- A random fact button, for when you just want to be surprised.
Test yourself. Here the question comes first and stays alone on the screen: the fact and the explanation only appear once you have answered.
- True or false — one statement at a time.
- Multiple choice — four options, one right answer.
- A ten-question challenge with a score at the end.
The quizzes are built from the same verified library as the fact pages, not from separate trivia.
Everything is free to read, with no account, no registration and no paywall.
Who writes it
ONAURE is published by Rita Raquel Carvalho Rodrigues de Oliveira, based in Portugal. The library is edited by a small team of writers with a background in science and history communication. Entries are written in Portuguese or English first and then adapted — not machine-translated word for word — into the remaining languages.
We explain exactly how entries are checked, and how we handle mistakes, in our editorial policy.
How the site is funded
ONAURE is funded by advertising. Ads are clearly separated from the content, and no advertiser can pay to have a fact added, changed or removed. We do not publish sponsored facts, affiliate links inside fact pages, or paid placements disguised as editorial content.
Our privacy policy explains what data advertising involves and how you can refuse it.
