Space officially begins about 100 kilometres above Earth.
Why it is true
The Kármán line, at about 100 kilometres altitude, is considered the boundary between Earth's atmosphere and space. NASA and most countries use this limit. Ordinary aircraft cannot fly above this altitude due to lack of oxygen and lift.
