The sand temperature determines the sex of turtle hatchlings.
Why it is true
In many species of sea turtles, the sex of the hatchlings is determined by the temperature of the nest sand. Temperatures above 31 degrees produce more females and below 27 degrees produce more males. Global warming can unbalance this ratio.
