A new species of lanternshark has been discovered off Western Australia.
Why it is true
CSIRO researchers described the West Australian lanternshark, a small bioluminescent species that lives at depths where sunlight does not reach. Its ability to emit blue light helps it camouflage against predators and communicate with others of its species.
