A new plant that does not photosynthesise was discovered in Malaysia.

Why it is true

Thismia aliasii, nicknamed the fairy lantern, obtains nutrients by parasitising fungi instead of photosynthesising. It was found in a humid, shaded area at about 640 metres above sea level in the Chemerong Forest Eco Park, in the state of Terengganu.
