Mount Everest grows a few millimetres per year due to the movement of tectonic plates.
Why it is true
The collision between the Indian plate and the Eurasian plate continues to push the Himalayas upwards. Satellite measurements show that Everest rises about 4 millimetres per year. At the same time, erosion wears the mountain down, but tectonic growth is faster.
