Mount Everest grows about four millimetres a year due to the movement of tectonic plates.
Why it is true
The Indian plate continues to push against the Eurasian plate, forcing the Himalayan mountain range to rise slowly. The 2015 earthquake in Nepal even temporarily shrank the mountain by a few centimetres.
