Cycads heat their reproductive structures up to 15 degrees Celsius above ambient temperature.
Why it is true
These ancient plants produce heat and emit infrared light to attract pollinating beetles. Heat pollination may be the oldest form in the world, originating about 275 million years ago, before the development of colour vision. The study was published in the journal Science.
