Why it is true
Peruvian archaeologist Ruth Shady discovered in 2025 the city of Peñico, 3,800 years old, built by the Caral civilisation. The site contains 18 structures and is one of the oldest cities in the Americas, revealing the social complexity of that pre-Inca culture.
