A 2,500-year-old statue was found buried face down under a Roman road in Turkey.
Why it is true
The statue, over 2.13 metres tall, was discovered in Sardis, the ancient capital of the Lydian Empire, during excavations on a Roman colonnaded avenue. The piece depicts a man with long hair and an elaborate tunic, combining elements of archaic Greek tradition with later anatomical details.
